Two manufacturers may use similar materials and still need different adhesive behaviour. Equipment, application pattern, assembly time and the conditions of use all influence the bond. That is why a useful enquiry starts with the complete process.
Begin with the materials
Bring the actual substrates into the discussion: the foam, textile, film, nonwoven or other component, including coatings and finishes. Define what the bond needs to do during assembly and throughout the product’s use.
Connect laboratory work with application trials
OYTI’s laboratory capabilities include controlled-temperature melt-viscosity measurement, ring-and-ball softening-point testing, heat-resistance evaluation and hotmelt application trials using dot, bead and spiral patterns.
Each gives a different view of adhesive behaviour. Together with testing on the intended substrates, these checks help guide grade selection and formulation discussions. Laboratory results need to be considered alongside the conditions on the customer’s line.
Make the trial answer a question
Agree what matters before the trial: assembly handling, bond appearance, peel behaviour or performance under the relevant temperature and moisture conditions. A clear target makes the result easier to evaluate and the next adjustment more useful.
Start with your material and process. Then work towards the adhesive that fits.
